welcome
I have created these pages to let you know a bit more about myself and my work.
I am Margarita Gerouki and I am from Greece. My origins are to be found in a small village, Katafigio, in central Greece , on the mountains of Agrafa.
I worked for my years as a primary school teacher. In 1999 I moved to Finland to work as a teacher of Greek for the Greek-Finnish community and pursue studies in Health Education in the University of Jyväskylä. I completed my Master's degree in 2004. My topic was about sexuality and relationships education, particularly, the introduction of the subject in the Greek primary school. I have lived in Helsinki for 12 years, seven of them with my husband who is from Finland and our son. In 2010 I have completed my postgraduate studies (Doctorate in Education) in the University of Helsinki, Faculty of Behavioural Sciences, department of Teacher Education. For my PhD research I continued with exploring the issue of sexuality and relationships education in the Greek school context. Sexuality and Relationships education has been ignored by educational authorities in many countries. I believe that this is a serious mistake and teachers need to be better prepared. In the past years I have contributed teaching in Greece about sexuality and gender. I was appointed as an Educational Adviser and worked in Greece from February 2012 until September 2018. On September of 2018 we moved back to Finland.
In this website you can find a link to my e-portfolio (in English and Greek) where I present my academic and proffesional work, also, a link to my Educational Adviser's weblog (in Greek).
Thank you for visiting, please feel free to explore.
